Why is a Transition Support Framework Critical for Your Success
Understanding the transition cycle is the first important step toward a successful civilian career and happy family. We help you navigate the 'Funnel of Suck' with clarity and strategic support for you and your family.
A New Approach to Your Transition Process
THE NEW WAY
A better transition timeline
We start the work early — so the last months aren’t so painful.
Months 24-13
Discovery
Reputable local non-profit organizations assist Vine & Branch (V&B) consulting with introductions to local business leaders. Alignment and cultural fit assessments that decode veteran experience & understand a company's cultural environment are performed. Identify hiring forecast windows. This allows V&B to begin reaching out to transitioning military families.
Months 12–7
Matching
Companies are aligning hiring forecasts based on project timelines. Informational interviews are conducted once all assessments are completed. V&B provides tailored resume support and practice interview sessions to build confidence. V&B facilitates Informational Interviews with Hiring Managers and the actual people you will work for.Â
Months 6–0
Placement
V&B treats military transition much like a normal permanent change of station (PCS). Â We will work to find great Realtors if needed, including contacts to other desired local resources. Â V&B can assist with salary negotiation, but chances are that salary discussions will occur much earlier than you expect. V&B is paid by companies to make great placements, and V&B donates at least 10% of its earnings to partnered Non-profit organizations.
Months 0+24
Retention
We offer free career consulting services.V&B also has the ability to network with locally certified Counselors. These Counselors will be familiar with the military family transition. A percentage of V&Bs revenue is set aside automatically for Counselor fees. Mediation services are offered free of charge at stakeholder request. Terms available upon request.Â
The V&B Approach to Your Transition Process
Working early (24-13 months out) with non-profit organizations & employers of all types, real estate agents, and other Veterans in your next location is critical for setting conditions well in advance of your family's transition. Let's get you and your family prepared and ready for that next move! Â
Phase I
ID Desired Location
Desired Compensation
Desired Industry
Cultural Fit Assessments
Choosing a desired transition location priority, desired compensation, and desired industry early sets the stage for everything else you and your family will do.Â

Goals during Phase I are not sequential, but they are necessary for gaining accurate awareness of the employment landscape, needs of you and your family, and set the stage for your partnership with V&B Consulting.
Â
V&B will perform Cultural Fit Assessments on you and potential employers, preferably 18 months prior to your transition. The earlier...the better.  Why? Contact us and we'll share some ideas.Â

V&B will work with you and your family to achieve these Phase I goals. Once achieved, V&B will begin actively networking on your behalf. You don't have the time to network, so let Chris do it!Â
Phase II
Conduct Informational Interviews
Attain Accurate Certifications
Targeted Resume Development
Efficient & Targeted Effort
Conducting informal interviews with potential matched employers gives you both the knowledge and desire to make informed choices about attaining the most accurate certifications and creating the best resumes.Â

V&B will set the stage for your informal interviews through building relationships with companies, well before opportunities are even posted.Â

You do not want to waste your time on certifications that will not support your future, and you don't want to write 300 targeted resumes in the last 90 days of your terminal leave. Trust me on this! You should be celebrating.Â

Our employer partners will be familiar with both you and your family, well before the formal interview process even starts. Let Vine and Branch Consulting help you gain the inside knowledge that your civilian counterparts already have.Â
Phase III
Interview Process
Hire
Onboarding
Sustainment
Â
If you've never worked in the civilian world, the interview, hiring, and onboarding processes are brand new for you and your family. What should I wear?, ask?, and disclose are common questions.Â

Our work together by this stage will have answered many of these questions! Because, you will now have the insights to land that role, and you will have experienced targeted feedback during your transition journey.Â

Sustainment support by V&B is a unique feature experienced when we work together. Veterans and their families often experience feelings of alienation and loneliness for many reasons for the first couple of years after leaving service.Â

So, let Chris share ideas about how V&B can support you and your family in both your new communities and new employment opportunities.Â
